	EAM — on call with the answers....	Technology that other vendors couldn't supply was developed by EAM. Here's what we did to provide the solution... A major manufacturer of health care products and emergency alert systems contacted EAM to assist them with the development of a new emergency call button. They wanted this call button to work magnetically, eliminating the need for mechanical contacts, which can wear out over time, causing warranty and safety issues.
	Obviously, the reliability of this system had to be perfect due to the medical nature of the application. The manufacturer was having difficulty creating a magnetic system that met all of their very strict criteria. EAM personnel decided on the appropriate reed switch for the application, and coupled it with a low cost, low weight neodymium magnet. Neodymium magnets are perfect for this type of application, because they are very stable, have a high resistance to degradation, and are not affected easily by stray fields. The design was a complete success, and the customer was thrilled with the results!
